It's My First Post!

Wow, I'm excited to do this! I have been so nervous to put myself out there because it's so far out of my comfort zone, but challenge is good!

For my first blog I thought I'd share a little bit about me and how I started designing jewelry. I have always loved jewelry. I remember even at a young age feeling such a connection to pieces that were given as a gift. One thing I love about jewelry is the aspect of passing down through generations. My grandmother had an amazing collection of gold and gemstone pieces and my aunt and mom have given my sister and I several of those pieces over the years that I treasure as a connection to family members and history.

I started creating pieces, in my late twenties after our daughter Hamilton "Millie" arrived. I had worked in Finance for many years but had always felt that I belonged in a more creative setting. Numbers were never my favorite! My husband and I didn't have much disposable income at that time and I would see beautiful jewelry pieces in fashion magazines which I couldn't afford. It occurred to me that there must be a way to design something similar possibly at a lower cost. I started researching and sourcing gemstone beads and other materials and would create pieces for myself and friends. I began getting so many compliments and requests that I decided to apply as a vendor for the summer at the South End Open Market, in Boston (an open-aired market of vendors selling jewelry, clothing, home goods, photography, ceramics, and more). I wanted to give a shot at selling my designs. It was an amazing experience where I met many artists and creatives and pushed me forward and opened a new world to explore. I have continued to grow my business and to learn by taking any opportunities that might come my way.

Looking forward to sharing more with you!
